How to Capture the Pink Color

The pink sand is real but subtle in photos if you don’t know the technique:

-

- Shoot wet sand — just after a wave recedes, the wet sand shows much deeper pink than dry sand

- Low angle — get your camera close to the sand (5–10cm) and shoot horizontally to exaggerate the color

- Morning light — warm 7am light enhances the red/pink tones; avoid midday harsh white light

- Slight overexposure — +0.3 to +0.7 EV brightens sand without washing out color

- Vibrance boost in post — bump vibrance (not saturation) by 20–30% to make pink pop authentically

- Polarizing filter — reduces glare on water surface to reveal turquoise depth behind beach

Drone Photography at Pink Beach Komodo

Drone photography is allowed at Pink Beach with a permit (IDR 50,000 from the ranger station). The aerial view of pink sand against turquoise water is extraordinary. Rules: no flying over wildlife (especially Komodo dragons), maximum altitude 120m, no flying during ranger trekking periods. DJI Mini series works well given the weight limits on boats.
